Ross River Redskins are hosting a FREE "Come and Try Rugby Afternoon" on the 9th of December. All activities will kick off at 3:30pm on Wednesday afternoon down at Shark Park (opposite Southern Cross School). The Redskins are encouraging as many participants as possible to come along and see whether or not they may or may not be interested in playing RUGBY for Ross River in any of their possible 2015 Junior Club Teams!
The annual Brolga vs 3rd Brigade Army Remembrance Day clash was held last night at Mike Carney Toyota Park. Three games were played, Women’s Seniors and for the first time an Old Boys Army side faced off against an Old Boys Brolgas side. The matches were in support of Mates4Mates, a not for profit charity that supports veterans in the defence force who have experienced physical or psychological wounds, injuries and illnesses as part of their service.
A great crowd turned up over the weekend to witness Townsville's largest 7's tournament ever. With 29 teams competing in 4 divisions (Senior Mens, Senior Womens, Under 20 and Masters) for their shot at a share of the $10,000 in cash and prizes. New and returning teams took to the pitch at Mike Carney Toyota Park with teams travelling from as far as Charters Towers and Mackay.
More than 700 of the region’s best Primary Aged and Teenaged rugby talent scorched the turf Mike Carney Toyota Park over the past fortnight for the Townsville & Districts Junior Rugby 7s tournament.
The TDRU is hoping the record number of junior players is a strong sign of things to come when the seniors take centre stage with more than 30 teams participating across the four divisions.
